Commissioned by a consortium of choirs including the BYU-Idaho (Rexburg, ID) Choruses, St. Thomas Parish Chorus (Cincinnati, OH), and the Fairfax United Methodist Chorus (Fairfax, VA), The Good Shepherd is a cantata for 2 male soloists, mixed chorus, and organ. This new work contemplates the role of Christ as the Shepherd of all the human race. The text has been complied from Holy Scripture and the hymns of Phyllis Wocher and Douglas Pew. The premiere will be conducted by Dr. Carlton Monroe. Subsequent regional premiere will occur in Idaho and Virginia by the other consortium members during 2016.
